Stainless steel is an alloy consisting primarily of nickel, chromium, iron, and carbon. A material is only considered stainless steel if it contains 11% to 12% chromium and no more than 1.2% carbon. A stainless steel bar is heat- and acid-resistant and is commonly used in interior construction, but is also found in the chemical industry, for example.
